OBJECTIVE:
To secure sponsorship for UNITY WALK 2009, the 13th Annual Byways & Hedges Youth for Christ Ministry’s innovative presentation promoting community & Police unity in combating violence.

BACKGROUND:
In August of 1997, during a major emotional upheaval in public sentiment to an action by some members of the NYPD, a young, energetic, multi-talented Pastor in Brooklyn, saw the need for everyone to come together to repair the relationship between residents and the NYPD.

This vision came in the nick of time and is today still viable.

Unity walk 2009 will focus on preserving and enhancing the good relationship which has been established between the Community and Police. In the community the Church is a refuge and a center of hope for residents and immigrants who are facing uncertainties and a sense of hopelessness. . Many of us have come to the United States to fulfill the “American Dream.” Some Americans have found that their dreams are receding in the background as their rights are have slowly been chipped away.


Now more than ever there is need for UNITY WALK - UNITY WALK 2009

ACTION/ACTIVITY PLAN: The thirteenth Annual unity walk will take place on Saturday, August 15, 2009. The assembly point is at the corner of Flatbush Avenue between Winthrop Avenue and Westbury Court at 10:00 a.m. In attendance will be hundreds of immigrants, community activists, members of the clergy, politicians, police, biker clubs, suv clubs, people who have lost loved ones to violence and other faith-based groups.

The route moves off from Flatbush Avenue between Winthrop Avenue and Westbury Court at 11:00 a.m., proceeding along Flatbush Avenue and onto Church Avenue until the participants reach Utica Avenue where the walk will culminate with a rally. Hundreds will participate, tens of thousands will witness it, but millions will know of it.


PROMOTION
An extensive promotional campaign is underway. This involves the use of:-
RADIO: – WVIP 93.5 FM, WPAT 930 AM. Blogtalkradio and numerous low-level community radio stations in Brooklyn.

STREET TEAM: - The Byways & Hedges YFC Ministry’s Mobile Church spearheads a dynamic daily street campaign visiting the boros of NY delivering live announcements and promotional fliers on this event. Circulars are also going out to over 5,000 Churches in the Tri-State area.
NEWSPAPER: - The Real Life Times publication, Liberty star, Caribbean Life and many other community newspapers are carrying up-to-the-minute press releases and ads relating to this event.
TELEVISION: - CIN – Channel 73 Cablevision. Zync Channel 69/ Time Warner channel 56

The success of UNITY WALK 2009 depends to a large extent on sponsorship dollars.
